POSITION: Circulation Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Support Staff--Full-Time
REPORTS TO: Director of Library Services

DESCRIPTION:
Oversee the library’s daily circulation services, including course reserves, interlibrary loan, and stacks maintenance. Supervise a team of student workers. Act as the library’s liaison for facilities requests. Participate in research assistance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Circulation Desk: Manage circulation desk functions and services, including but not limited to: daily operation, user questions, fine payments, and enforcing policies and procedures.

- Student Workers: Hire, train, and supervise student workers for circulation, reserves, and interlibrary loan to ensure smooth operation of library services: Prepare work schedules, create student worker policies and procedures, assign projects/tasks, monitor and approve student timecards, review student performance, and facilitate teamwork.

- Course Reserves: Organize the course reserves collection, including print and electronic materials.

- Stacks Maintenance: Plan daily shelving of materials, make recommendations to librarians for book de-selection, repair or replacement, work with library staff on large-scale stacks projects, and coordinate with vendor for withdrawn books.

- Interlibrary Loan: Oversee daily interlibrary loan operations, troubleshoot issues, develop procedures, and enforce policies.

- Facilities Liaison: Submit work orders for library projects to the Physical Plant regarding building issues (e.g., repairs, custodial, HVAC, lighting).

- Assist users in locating library materials.

- Participate in research assistance shifts as needed.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 1-2 years of related library experience required
- Experience in an academic library preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred

Technology Skills:
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and related computer skills.
- Working knowledge of Library of Congress classification preferred.
- Knowledge of Innovative Interfaces Sierra preferred.

Human Relations Skills:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with employees, staff, and faculty and campus visitors.
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently as required.

Other Requirements:
- Shift changes and/or weekend work may be required by your supervisor based on departmental and University needs.
- Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission.
