Lawrence University, a selective undergraduate liberal arts college and conservatory of music in Appleton, Wisconsin, seeks a dynamic leader to serve as Director of the Seeley G. Mudd Library. Reporting to the Provost and Dean of the Faculty, the Director of the Mudd Library holds an untenured faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, exempt position. The Director oversees a staff of 13, an annual budget and endowed funds of approximately $1 million, and a building that also houses the University Archives, a makerspace, the Center for Academic Success, the Office of Accessibility Services, and Information Technology Services.
The ideal candidate will provide strong leadership and strategic vision for the library to implement an innovative and effective program of services that meet the evolving needs of our diverse community of students, instructors, and scholars. The Director will be deeply knowledgeable about the many functions of academic libraries in higher education and changes in educational technologies and resources. The ability to collaborate, both within the library and across campus, foster a culture of inclusivity and excellence, and advance Lawrence University’s educational mission and contribute to its strategic plan are also key qualities.
