Oak Creek Public Library is seeking a full-time Youth Services Supervisor. The ideal candidate will match the energy and enthusiasm of our community and bring an innovative spirit to the Youth Services Department. Other desirable talents include the ability to provide a high quality, research-based, early literacy learning experience for caregivers and children, from birth through 8th grade. This experienced, forward-thinking, creative, and adaptable librarian will promote a love of learning, reading, and help foster future school success among the children they encounter in our library.

The Youth Services Supervisor will manage the day-to-day operations of the Youth Services Department, manage Youth Services staff, oversee the development and maintenance of the Youth Services collection, administer library programs with a focus on youth, promote library services to the community, act as the library’s volunteer coordinator, and participate in the library’s everyday operations.

The Oak Creek Public Library is a part of the Milwaukee Federated Library System. It is located in one of the fastest growing and most vibrant communities in Southeastern Wisconsin, right in the heart of Drexel Town Square. The current library was constructed in 2015 and includes a beautiful Youth Services Department, including state-of-the-art technology and ample spaces for programming opportunities. Annually, the library serves 200,000 and circulates 325,000 items.

ELIGIBILITY
Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution, plus at least two (2) years recent experience in library operations (public library experience preferred) with experience, knowledge or training related to youth services and one (1) year managerial or supervisory experience. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be able to work evening and weekend hours as required.
A successful candidate will possess a strong service orientation and commitment to library user’s needs, strong organizational and project management skills, excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and a strong desire to explore new ways to provide excellent library service to the Oak Creek community.

WAGES & SCHEDULE
This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting annual salary of $53,379. Schedule includes a minimum of one evening per week and rotating weekend hours.
