The Pauline Haass Public Library is seeking a progressive, experience library professional to join a dedicated and talented staff of 14 FTE in providing excellent, community-responsive service to the Sussex area. This position is open due to a retirement.

The Pauline Haass Public Library, located in Sussex, Wisconsin, has a service population of over 20,000 and draws from a wide area. It serves 129,000 visitors annually, with a projected 2018 physical-item circulation of 312,000 and total circulation of 333,000. The library enjoys strong support from the Village Board, Friends of the Library, and Bridges Library System; and a good partnership with the Hamilton School District. A library expansion is included in the Village’s 2021-2030 Capital Improvement Plan, and preparation for that will be one facet of the director’s responsibilities.

communicator who provides timely, accurate, and relevant information on critical issues to library board, staff, stakeholders, and the public and is able to develop and communicate a shared vision of library services.

relationship builder who acts with a high level of integrity and honesty to develop relationships based on trust and mutual respect; is able to work collaboratively with library board, staff and other key stakeholders to achieve the library’s mission

customer service-oriented librarian committed to diversity, inclusion, friendliness, and authentic community engagement.

A Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution is required. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional public library experience is preferred, including at least three years in a supervisory role as a department manager, assistant director, or director.

References and background check will be required for finalists.

Starting salary: $70-82,000 depending on qualifications
