The Muskego Public Library is seeking applications for a creative and enthusiastic Children's Assistant to join our team. This full time position reports to the Head of Reference and takes program/service direction from the Children's Librarian. Application deadline is March 30th at 8pm.
The Children's Assistant works in coordination with the Children's Librarian to plan and execute services for children and families, as well as reference and reader's advisory services. Typical duties include planning and performing story times and other specialty programs, performing outreach and programs to local schools and pre-K programs, and helping maintain an up to date Children's collection and space.
Desired skills include an advanced knowledge of early literacy education, customer service, and a high comfort level in performing in front of large audiences that include both children and adults. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) are required. Artistic abilities (music, dance, art, theater) are a strong plus. This position asks for two years of study at an accredited college/university or technical school as well as preferred experience in a public library or equivalent setting.
