The Germantown Community Library in Germantown, WI is seeking a full-time Youth Services Librarian who is hard-working, creative, enthusiastic, organized, tech savvy, and enjoys working with people of all ages. The library is looking for an individual to move the library forward and bring new ideas to our current programming and services. The ideal candidate will work well both independently and collaboratively, have comprehensive knowledge of children’s and young adult literature, a strong work ethic and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The person hired will work primarily in the youth serviced department, but will also work in all areas of the library including Circulation, Reference, and Library Administration. The position requires at least one evening per week, one Saturday per month, and flexible availability to meet the demands of the library.

A Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution with at least three years of public library experience in youth services is preferred. Applicant should have a thorough understanding and knowledge of children’s and young adult literature, information retrieval, and youth programming. The budgeted salary for this position is $42,000 - $46,000 based on qualifications and experience. The Village of Germantown also provides an excellent benefits package including health and dental insurance, sick leave, paid time off and holidays after one year and enrollment in the Wisconsin Retirement System.

The Germantown Community Library opened in July of 2002 with a square footage of 27,000. In 2016, the library circulated over 235,000 items. The Village of Germantown has over 20,000 citizens and serves an additional 11,000 citizens from surrounding areas in Washington County. The village has an excellent Park and Recreation Department and a strong school system that is undergoing a 83.5 million dollar referendum.
