The Board of Trustees of the Aram Public Library (APL) in Delavan, WI is seeking a Library Director who is passionate about expanding the role of the library in our community by promoting materials and services, building partnerships, and leading change. The director manages all aspects of the library’s operations including:
• Hiring, mentoring, and supervising all librarians, assistants, and volunteers
• Finances and budgeting
• Maintenance and improvement of the facility and grounds
• Community outreach and liaison with city council, county agencies, community organizations, Friends of Aram Library and APL Foundation
• Supervision of library technology and programming
• Implementing effective marketing
• Developing short term and long range plans
• Fundraising
• Fostering energy in community for planned expansion
This is a particularly exciting time for Aram Library as we continue our progress toward expanding the library building to better serve the community.
Community Snapshot: Located in southeast Wisconsin’s scenic lake area, Delavan enjoys significant summer resident and tourist activity, has a sizeable Latino community, and is home to the Wisconsin School for the Deaf. Aram Library serves an extended population of 14,000+ with annual circulation of around 110,000 and has an annual budget of about $500,000. Aram Library is a member of the Lakeshores Library System and the SHARE consortium comprised of four counties.
Qualifications: This position requires a Masters in Library Science from an ALA accredited program to be eligible for Wisconsin Grade 1 Library Director Certification, and a minimum of five years of relevant work experience including three years of library experience at a administrator/leadership level.
Desirable candidate skills include effective collaborative and consensus building skills; fundraising; project management; grant writing; knowledge of library technologies; excellent oral and written communication in English. Fluency in Spanish and/or American Sign Language is a plus.
Compensation: Starting salary range is $55,000-65,000 based on qualifications and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
