If so, the North Shore Library is seeking a Head of Adult Services. Our Former Head of Adult Services has returned to school to pursue her PhD, however she will be available during the interview process to answer any questions.
The ideal candidate is creative, technology-minded and enthusiastic about being part of an ever-changing environment. Other desirable qualities include strong organizational and management skills, excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills, and a strong desire to explore new ways to provide excellent library services.
This full time leadership position works with the Head of Youth Services, the Assistant Director and the Library Director as part of the Library’s Management Team. This position is responsible for planning, managing and evaluating library services and in-house and outreach programming for adults. The Head of Adult Services is responsible for identifying community needs and providing direct library services such as reference, reader’s advisory and technology assistance to customers of all ages. Additionally, this position is responsible for the adult collection, technology management and marketing. The Head of Adult Services directly supervises one full-time and one part-time librarian and one part-time technical services staff member.
Eligibility
• Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Adult Services Librarian
• Preference given to those with supervisory experience
Salary and Schedule
This is a full time exempt position. Salary range of $48,500-$50,565 depending on experience.
The schedule includes a minimum of one evening per week and every third Sunday.
