Instructional Technologist
Working within an environment that is dynamic, positive, innovative, and responsive, the Beloit College Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) Division provides high-quality access to information services and technology resources. LITS is committed to providing leadership and services that enable student success and well-being, and support faculty and staff to creatively and productively enhance the college’s academic, administrative, and co-curricular environments. This is a regular, full-time 12-month position reporting to the Manager of LITS Services & Support.

The Instructional Technologist supports the faculty in all aspects of academic technology integration and innovation. They provide technical support for the Learning Management System and partner with LITS staff to create any necessary technology integrations; create and provide training materials and experiences face to face and online for faculty; provide consultation, training and assistance on a variety of instructional, multi-media and emerging technologies; improves student engagement, student achievement and digital literacy skills by facilitating faculty professional growth and development on the selection and integration of appropriate technologies for their discipline and learning objectives; participates in the evaluation and selection of the latest instructional technology software and hardware; and performs other duties as assigned.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

Consults with individual faculty members and departments to identify, facilitate, and implement academic uses of information technologies to achieve teaching and learning goals in a variety of different classroom settings, including traditional, distance learning, and hybrid models.
Designs and develops content specific interactive learning objects, multimedia, web resources, and instructional materials.
Manages the course management system application working with out LITS staff to plan for upgrades.
Develops, maintains, and distributes documentation explaining use and operation of information technologies.
Imaginatively and creatively researches, designs, develops, and delivers workshops on instructional technologies and professional development opportunities related to pedagogy, instructional design, instructional technology, and available software tools.
Assembles faculty needs and collaborates with LITS colleagues to develop, implement, and access technologies for teaching and learning in classrooms.
Collaborates with LITS staff to the use and training of in-classroom technologies, such as: microphones, smart document cameras, annotation devices, wireless presentation devices, etc.
Work collaboratively to plan and achieve department goals and priorities, coordinating work with other LITS staff as well as faculty, staff, and students.
Coordinates between LITS Support staff and faculty to update classroom technology.
Keep abreast of trends, developments, best practices, and technologies as appropriate for this position.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate work requirements, including regular evening and occasional weekend hours.

Required Credentials and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of direct experience required; Master’s degree in
Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or related field or; graduate education that supports the requirements of the position such as Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, Educational Technology, or Library Science strongly preferred.
Prior experience in a higher education environment is preferred and experience in a small, private, liberal arts setting is especially preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of universal design and learning theory.
Evidence of analytical, organizational, communication, project, and time management skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and complete tasks and projects on time and within budget and in accordance with task/project parameters.
Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and issues in academic technology,
academic libraries, higher education, and relevant subject disciplines.
Capacity to thrive in a future-oriented environment in “perpetual beta” that embraces learning from change and to respond effectively to changing needs and priorities.
