Employment Opportunity – Full-Time Library Director
The T.B. Scott Free Library Board of Trustees in Merrill, Wisconsin, announce the opening of the Library Director position due to retirement. The Library Director plans, organizes, coordinates and administers resilient and effective library services and programs that meet the diverse needs of the community.
Our architecturally stunning library is located in the City of Parks along the Prairie River. The scenic Wisconsin River flows through the center of Merrill and allows us to serve as a gateway to the Wisconsin Northwoods. The library has twice received the Library of the Year Award from the Wisconsin Library Association.
Merrill has seen significant economic growth in the last ten years and helping that growth is the unwavering community support for our library programs and services. T.B. Scott Free Library provides service to the residents of the City of Merrill and the surrounding communities of Lincoln County with a total service population of 21,000.
This position requires but is not limited to:
• Grade 1 Wisconsin Public Librarian Certification
• Five years of significant progressive administrative & supervisory library experience
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Staff management and leadership skills
• Experience in budget development
Responsibilities include:
• Informs the board on all matters affecting the library
• Prepares the annual report
• Establishes priorities for the library by setting goals and objectives
• Embraces an environment of inclusion that considers all members of the community
• Coordinates activities of all library departments
• Prepares a budget that supports library priorities
• Selects assigned collections
• Oversees all staffing functions
• Represents and promotes the library by working with local government officials
• Directs overall maintenance and improvement of buildings and grounds
Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications: (Starting salary is $66,300/year) Full-time benefits include: health insurance, life insurance, paid vacation/sick/holiday/bereavement/personal leave and the City’s contribution to the Wisconsin Retirement System.
