Manitowoc Public Library Youth Services Department is currently accepting applications for a creative, energetic, and innovative Youth Services Teen Associate. This position plays a dynamic role as part of our Youth Services team. The Teen Associate’s main duties include planning and leading inventive tween/teen programs, conducting outreach to middle and high schools to promote library services, providing excellent customer service to patrons of all ages, and collaborating with a truly fabulous team dedicated to serving the the youth of Manitowoc. Candidates should be outgoing and in touch with current popular culture, forward-thinking, technologically savvy, and committed to excellent customer service. This position is 29 hours per week and may be scheduled to work any hours the library is open for business and some after-hours events (i.e. weekdays, evenings, Saturday and Sunday).
Candidate must possess knowledge of developmental, recreational and educational needs of young adults, the ability to translate young adult needs and interests into effective library services and programs, and knowledge of current trends in library services for and with young adults. An ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven record of strong communication, creativity, time management, team work, and detail orientated skills. Preferred candidates will have a zest for youth services and programming.
A Bachelor's degree in any discipline (or equivalent experience) which provides the necessary skills and abilities is required. Prior work experience in a position with similar duties and responsibilities desirable. Preference given to candidates possessing library experience, an education background or actively pursuing an education major.
