The Sun Prairie Public Library is entering a new and exciting phase with an expansion project on the horizon. We are seeking a forward thinking, energetic, collaborative, and open-minded leader who is enthusiastic about access, diversity, and inclusion efforts as it relates to the principles and practices within cataloging and technical services to join our Library Management Team.
The Head of Technical Services oversees our Technical Services Team in emerging and existing practices in cataloging, linking, processing, acquisitions, and financial functions; and supervises and supports the Technical Services Staff. The Head of Technical Services is a member of the Management Team, participates in long and short-term strategic planning, policy making, development, and serves as supervisor in the absence of the Library Director. The Head of Technical Services may also serve on South Central Library System and City of Sun Prairie committees.
In collaboration with the Library Management Team, the Head of Technical Services provides collection data analysis and audits to assist with inclusive and equitable collection development efforts. The Head of Technical Services provides reference, reader’s advisory, and technology services to a diverse population of library users; participates in professional development; seeks continuing education opportunities for staff; prepares monthly activity reports for the Library Board; provides Technical Services data for the DPI’s Annual Report; and performs other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, including some evenings and regular weekend rotations; approximately one weekend/month. MLIS degree or related education and experience is required. Bilingual, especially English/Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply.
