Do you dream of making a difference in young people’s lives? Do you like to try new? Does reading a story, sharing a slime recipe or singing a silly song sound like fun?

If you are outgoing, creative, technology-minded and enthusiastic about serving youth in an ever-changing environment, this is the job for you!

The North Shore Library is seeking a curious and creative Youth Services Librarian with a passion for learning and collaboration.

This position works under the supervision of the Head of Youth Services. Main duties include developing and implementing a wide variety of children’s, teen, and family programs, organizing and maintaining children’s collections, and the delivery of reference and reader’s advisory services to patrons of all ages. Programs are currently all virtual but future programs may be in-person or a combination of both.

This position is 20 hours per week and includes one evening each week and every other Saturday. Flexibility in scheduling is occasionally needed for program coverage. Most hours are at the children’s reference desk, with occasional hours at the adult reference desk. This position requires a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science. Prior experience working in a children’s department is preferred. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Submit resume, cover letter, and 3 references to Annie Bahringer at [email protected]. Application deadline is May 14.
