Location
Town Hall public library at North Lake is seeking a young adult’s library associate for 25-hour position. Candidate must be an energetic, team-oriented individual with a strong public service commitment. This job requires working days, nights and weekends.
The starting wage for this position is $13.52 per hour.

Job Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• One or more years of professional experience in a library setting preferred.
• Experience working with children and young adults (ages 12 to 18) preferred.
• Computer knowledge and experience (Windows, WORD, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities:
• Knowledge of current trends in library service to youth, including demonstrated knowledge of young adult literature and materials, programming skills, and the ability to work with young people.
• Ability to develop and implement services to Teens /Tweens.
• Ability to assess the patron’s needs and provide consistent customer service.
• Ability to represent the library in a responsible, professional and trustworthy manner.
• Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and to maintain a calm demeanor under stressful or unsettling circumstances.
• Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work in most cases independently, as well as collaboratively when needed.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with public, staff and volunteers/stakeholders.
• Ability to use library and general office equipment including computers, printer, photocopier, telephone and fax machine, as well as a working knowledge of computer applications for library services.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Plans, organizes and supervises after school programs (including Summer Library Reading Program) for Young adults.
• Promotes use of tech-based offerings to YA patrons.
• Collection management of young adult materials per library policy.
• Serves as liaison to schools and community agencies serving Young Adults in conjunction with Youth Services staff.
• Prepares statistics, reports and grants related to Young Adult services/programming as needed.
• Maintains working knowledge of contemporary issues, trends and technology in the library profession by attending workshops, professional meetings, reading current literature and following state and local children and youth services related lists/posts.
• Performs duties related to opening and closing of the library as needed.

Physical Job Demands
• Continuous to frequent standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, climbing, and stooping.
• Frequent bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
