The Board of Trustees of the Baraboo Public Library seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic library director with a commitment to public service excellence.

The Baraboo Public Library is a member of the South Central Library System with a staff of 10.9 FTE and an operating budget of approximately $900,000. The library provides an outstanding array of programs and services, and in 2018, is embarking on planning and design work for a renovation and expansion of the 1903 Carnegie facility.

The position requires superior management and communication skills, a Masters of Library Science from an American Library Association-accredited program, eligibility for Wisconsin Grade 1 Public Librarian Certification, and four to six years of progressively responsible library experience. The library is governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees who have policy and fiscal responsibility for the library and the services it provides. An active Friends of the Library organization provides additional support through fundraising, volunteerism, and advocacy.

Salary range is $65,644 to $85,363, commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. In addition, the Baraboo Public Library and the City of Baraboo offer a competitive benefits package including a retirement plan with the State of Wisconsin.

Located near the scenic bluffs of Devil's Lake State Park, Baraboo was ranked by Smithsonian Magazine as the 4th best small town to visit in the United States in 2013. The Baraboo Public Library is located one block west of Baraboo's vibrant, historic downtown square. The library serves the City of Baraboo, a community of approximately 12,000, as well as approximately 7,200 rural Sauk County residents.
