A progressive library board is currently working to set a strategic plan. The mission of the Greendale Public Library is: We strive to transform lives and strengthen our community by creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive home for information, learning, inspiration, and connection.

The Greendale Library is part of the larger Community Learning Center that includes the Department of Health and the Department of Park and Recreation. The model provides tremendous opportunity for integrated services for the community. During the past year the Library has made a large investment in technology and furnishings to create a setting more appealing to all stake holders. The Greendale Public Library is well positioned to move forward with and exciting model for the 21st century.

The Village of Greendale is one of the three original greenbelt communities developed under President Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal in the wake of the Great Depression. It was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 2013. The Greendale Public Library serves 14, 165 residents and is a member of the Milwaukee County Federated Library System. The Greendale Library provides a wide range of services and special programs to more than 500 patrons per day.

Under the direction of the Greendale Public Library Board of Trustees, the Library Director administers the library with responsibility and authority of organizing and managing the library operations, planning and coordinating its programs in service to the community. The Library Director will provide leadership and planning within the Community Learning Center environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited institution.
• Eligible for State of Wisconsin Grade 1 Library certification.
• Five years of progressively responsible library experience demonstrating responsibility for supervision of staff.
• Advanced knowledge of technology including library data bases, social media, web site management and library management software.
• Experience in developing and managing a budget.

Compensation:
This is an exempt position. The probationary period for this position is one year. The salary range is $65,000 – $76,634.
