Overview:
Reporting to the Head of Library Information Technology, this position collaborates across all library departments to ensure continuous, integrated access between the library services platform, Ex Libris Alma/Primo VE, and related digital platforms including OpenAthens, Springshare products, CONTENTdm, and the bepress institutional repository.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides primary administrative, maintenance, and configuration support for the Ex Libris Alma/Primo VE library services platform, on schedule for July 31, 2024 migration from Sierra/EDS.
- Uses programming, API, and systems integration knowledge to enable Alma interaction with campus ERP, financial, and identity services systems, including shared technical responsibilities for OpenAthens authentication.
- Leads investigation and implementation of technologies and strategies to maximize discovery of library resources within Alma/Primo VE, including CONTENTdm, bepress, StackMaps, ILLiad, RapidILL, and Springshare products (LibGuides, LibCal, LibInsight, LibWizard).
- Assists staff in the development of efficient acquisitions, cataloging, and fulfillment workflows in Alma, and integration of discovery import profiles in Primo VE.
- Collaborates with staff to address user access issues promptly and efficiently; liaises between library and vendors to ensure successful resolution.
- Administers Alma/Primo Analytics and provides data to stakeholders.
- Writes status and problem reports, procedures, documentation, and FAQs.
- Acts as a member of the Library IT support team, including backup roles for library web content systems, hardware/software support, and training staff on new technologies.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA accredited program.
- Two years of library experience, preferably in an academic or research library.
- Two years of experience working with an ILS/LSP in an administrative capacity.
- Successful experience: in managing, implementing, or integrating link resolvers and ILS data; in scripting or programming to automate tasks; and in managing, implementing, or integrating with discovery layers such as Primo.
- Knowledge of library technology standards and protocols such as Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR), OAI/PHM harvesting protocol, Resource Description and Access (RDA).
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with Ex Libris systems (Alma/Primo)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products with emphasis on Access and Excel.
- Knowledge of bibliographic record structures as they relate to core library operations such as circulation, cataloging, acquisitions, serials, etc.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, DROOL, XSL, XML, and REGEX.
- Knowledge of API integration for customizing system integrations.
- Familiarity with web accessibility and design standards.
- Familiarity with content management systems, e.g., LibGuides, CONTENTdm.
- Knowledge of technologies for digital libraries, such as OpenURL, Dublin Core, MARC and/or linked data.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and creativity in using technology to advance information discovery, teaching, learning, and organizational effectiveness.
