JOB LOCATION: On-Campus

DUTIES:
The Markwood Center for Learning, Innovation, and Collaboration (CLIC) at the Jim Dan Hill Library (JDHL) is a busy, multi-faceted, 13-person unit committed to supporting the UW-Superior mission in its provision of community, resources, and support for students, staff, and the community. As a staff, the unit prioritizes community-building, professional development, and collaboration. This position provides a wide variety of advanced archival services in collection development, creation, and appraisal of collection materials in a variety of formats, arrangement and description, preservation, reference and research support, and outreach and instruction in support of historical documentation, education, and research. Provides input on policies and procedures, typically through committee work, to contribute to services and operations and assist in continual service improvement and innovation. Solves complex problems based on advanced knowledge and expertise. Initiates process improvements, policy changes, and new initiatives, typically through committee work, to contribute towards continual improvement in services and operations. Provides reference and outreach services to students online and face-to-face; provides library instruction; serves as a liaison to one or more academic departments; is responsible for monitoring and implementing best practices and trends.

This position is currently ineligible for H1-B sponsorship. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • American Library Association (ALA) accredited master’s degree in library science (MLS) with archival concentration or significant education in archives
  • 3+ years of experience in an archive serving the public
  • Experience in an academic library or supporting college students and/or faculty and staff with reference and/or instruction

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Supervisory and management experience
  • Experience with collecting and archiving oral histories

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work collaboratively and transparently across units to achieve goals
  • Ability to prepare and present reports and statistics
  • Experience or course work on preservation and digitization of records
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively in rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge of genealogical research

Salary range for this position is: $54,000 – $58,000 annually. Specific benefit information can be found here. A snap-shot of benefits offered for this position include:

*Hours are pro-rated based on appointment percentage for less than 100%-time employees.
