JOB LOCATION: Hybrid

This position is eligible for hybrid work consideration. Currently eligibility requires residency in one of the following states: Wisconsin or Minnesota upon hire.

DUTIES:
The Center for Learning, Innovation & Collaboration (CLIC) @ Jim Dan Hill Library (JDHL) is a busy, multi-faceted unit committed to supporting the UW-Superior mission in its provision of community, resources, and support for students, staff, and the community. As a staff, the unit prioritizes community-building, professional development, and collaboration. The Systems and Digital Services Librarian (Librarian II) provides a wide variety of the most advanced professional library services which may include teaching, learning, public services, circulation, assessment, reference, selection, and outreach to support creative exploration, intellectual growth, and scholarly pursuits. The position serves as a resource to others and regularly solves complex problems based on advanced knowledge and expertise and initiates process improvements, policy changes, and new initiatives to contribute towards continual improvement in services and operations. Chiefly, the position administers and maintains the library’s website and databases via EZproxy, the integrated library system (Ex Libris’ Alma/Primo), Lib-Guides, SharePoint, and other services. The position includes close collaboration with other UW System libraries, campus Technology Services unit, with library colleagues to integrate and monitor library systems to improve the user experience. The position provides reference services to students online and face-to-face; provides library instruction; serves as a liaison to one or more academic departments; is responsible for monitoring and implementing best practices and trends in emerging educational technologies to best serve library users including working with other CLIC team members such as the Distance Learning Environment (DLE) team to integrate library resources into the Learning Management System (LMS).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Library Science (MA, MUS, MLS, etc.) from an American Library Association accredited institution

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in the planning, coordination and management and support of any core library technology systems such as integrated library system, resource discovery, federated search, link resolver, proxy server, interlibrary loan, or e-reserve systems.
  • Experience in providing reference services and/or instruction in a higher ed setting online and face-to-face.
  • Familiarity with UW-System library operations
  • Certificate in Creative Commons and/or experience in Open Educational Resources professional development

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge and understanding of current and emerging library technologies including Ex Libris Alma/Primo, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, XML/XSLT, Java/Tomcat, Apache Web Server, MySQL
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Salary range for this position is: $52,000 – $55,000 annually. Specific benefit information can be found here. A snap-shot of benefits offered for this position include:
