Location
The North Shore Library in Glendale, WI is seeking a full-time Assistant Director. This is a new position and will work with the Head of Youth Services, the Head of Adult Services and the Library Director as part of the Library’s Management Team. The Assistant Director will supervise the Circulation Services Team, manage supply procurement and invoice tracking and lead Outreach Services and other Library promotional activities. This position will have some collection responsibilities and will also perform reference and readers’ advisory as needed. This position provides outstanding customer service, promotes library services to our communities and assists in managing the day-to-day operations of the library.

The ideal candidate will bring energy and enthusiasm to our team. The successful candidate will be a positive and patient supervisor, provide superior internal and external customer service and possess excellent interpersonal communication skills. This candidate should also be experienced in providing Outreach Services and be willing to dig in to provide new and innovative services.

The North Shore Library serves the four communities of Bayside, Fox Point, Glendale and River Hills and is part of the Milwaukee County Federated Library System. The Library is working toward a remodel of its space, scheduled for 2020. The Library has been working hard to improve the collection, step up service and provide innovative programming. We are looking for an Assistant Director who enjoys change, has a strong desire to find new ways to provide excellent service and is excited about trying new programs and services.

Eligibility
• Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a public services librarian
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role
• Minimum of two years of experience facilitating public library programming. Preference given to those with experience in Outreach Programming.

Wages and Salary
This is a full time exempt position with a starting salary of $52,350.
The schedule includes a minimum of one evening per week and rotating weekends.
