The Rio Community Library seeks a creative, engaged, thoughtful, and organized leader with a vision for the future.

Located 35 miles north of Madison, this busy library belongs to the South Central Library System, serves an extended population of 2,700, maintains a collection of almost 22,000 items, circulates approximately 24,000 items a year, and has an annual budget of approximately $200,000. The recently redesigned 5,000 square foot space offers flexibility for quiet times as well as high energy programs. Located just two blocks from the local elementary school, the library has a great relationship with innovative teachers, has an active Friends group, garden club, quilt guild, and receives widespread community support. All in all, Rio is a small but active community with strong library supporters that are willing to say yes to new ideas.

Minimum Qualifications:
54 semester credits; Grade 3 Wisconsin Public Library Certification required within two years of employment; previous library experience in a supervisory position is preferred; Bachelor’s degree or Master of Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution is preferred, recent MLS graduates are welcome to apply. A successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of current library technology, fiscal management experience, and the ability to work effectively with library board, library employees, and the community. Varying work hours include days, evenings, and some Saturdays.

Salary & Benefits:
This position is 35 hours per week. Starting annual compensation is $35,000 – $42,000 dependent on education and qualifications. Benefits package includes health, dental, vision insurance; Wisconsin Retirement System, and paid vacation, personal, and sick days. The options of life insurance, disability insurance are also offered.
