Subject :Operations Program Associate position for the Public Library Development Team

The DPI is currently seeking applicants for an Operations Program Associate position for the Public Library Development team within the Office of the Libraries and Technology. This position is located at 125 South Webster Street in Madison, WI.

This position provides complex administrative and technical assistance to the Director of the Public Library Development Team as well as for the team’s programs and initiatives, including the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant program; state aid to public library systems; the public library data collection program; public librarian certification program, public library technology programs, youth and inclusive services programs, and other programs and projects of the team. This position performs highly responsible work requiring a substantial degree of program knowledge and independent judgment and assists with policies and procedures affecting the team’s work and daily operations, including communications, program and fiscal data collections, editing and reporting, and confidential administrative matters. This position has contact with public officials and requires coordination with the assistant state superintendent and state superintendent’s offices, as well as with organizations and individuals outside the agency.


The major functions of this position are: (A) to provide advanced-level paraprofessional support services for administrative services coordination to the Public Library Development team director along with team activities including the LSTA Grants to States program; (B) provide program support for conferences, meetings, and workshops; and independently coordinate, plan and implement procurement processes between the team, the Division contract coordinator, and the fiscal office; (C) serve as the webmaster responsible for developing and maintaining web pages for the Public Library Development team, as well as the directory for Wisconsin public libraries and library data; and (D) provide support for implementation of the standards for public libraries and public library systems in Wisconsin, and coordination of the public librarian certification program, using the agency’s customer relationship management (CRM) system. This position is responsible for coordinating various functions within the Public Library Development team that contribute significantly to full operation of the team and the Division for Libraries and Technology.
