System Support Specialist
Beloit College’s Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) team plays with possibilities to enable student success through innovative teaching, learning, and research services; business transformation services; integrated core services; and digital security and privacy services.

The System Support Specialist directly maintains and supports a portfolio of information technology systems as part of the integrated core services team providing a common experience for the campus community. The position will serve as an escalation point for system troubleshooting; administer, configure, improve systems; provide training as needed; manage system licensing; and act as the vendor contact for assigned systems.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

Serves as liaison for installation, troubleshooting, communications, and updates between the campus community, LITS, and system vendors.
Communicates with campus constituents to determine and document problems/issues with systems or hardware related to assigned systems.
Provides hardware troubleshooting and repair, when required for assigned systems. Advises on repair and/or replacement when applicable. Manages assets to department standards.
Performs all assignments within the deadlines set and regularly communicate the status of various projects.
Ensures proper documentation of issues, solutions, and systems.
Hires, trains, schedules, and supervises student employees/interns for specialized work in systems management, deployment and support.
Provides training and support for new hires, employees in new roles or with new assignments, and for organization-wide training on new systems.
Improves and automates assigned systems to improve college community experience.
Assists with compliance requirements (examples: HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, GDPR, CCPA, PCI-DSS) and manages system security of assigned software.
Works collaboratively to plan and achieve department goals and priorities, coordinating work with other LITS staff as well as faculty, staff, and students.
Maintains a high quality of student-centered service standards.
Monitors trends, developments, best practices, and technologies as appropriate for this position.
Credentials and Experience:

High School diploma required; Associates degree in a related field preferred
1-3 years of IT system administration experience preferred
Higher education industry experience preferred
Experience with at least one of the following systems preferred
Apple MacOS
Microsoft Windows
JAMF suite of products
Microsoft Intune
Programming or scripting experience preferred (any language, however Bash, PowerShell, or Python experience very helpful)
