Marquette University Raynor Memorial Libraries seeks a Student Success Librarian to coordinate and provide instruction, research support, and outreach services for first-year and transfer students. This person will collaborate with academic programs and offices to develop library initiatives that promote student success and retention. The Student Success Librarian will have a role in developing the library’s peer information assistant program. This person will also be a liaison for selected academic departments and report to the Head of Research and Instructional Services.

Responsibilities:
• Work collaboratively with faculty and library colleagues to offer synchronous and asynchronous information literacy instruction, develop learning objects, and create other teaching materials to improve first-year and transfer students’ information literacy skills.
• Coordinate and assess the library’s information literacy instruction for first-year introductory courses such as Foundations in Rhetoric and Communication Research.
• Coordinate library programs and services that target and improve first-year student success and retention, including planning for a student peer information assistant program.
• Build and maintain relationships with other campus offices co-located in the Marcus Lemonis Student Success Center.
• Identify and address barriers to student use of library collections, services, and spaces.
• Coordinate the library’s participation in campus orientation activities.
• Serve as a liaison to academic departments by providing research, instruction, and collection development support for faculty and students.
• Keep abreast of trends and developments in information literacy, library instruction, and the library’s role in supporting student success.
• Contribute to and learn from the profession through such avenues as local, state, and national professional organizations, presentations, and publications.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• MLS from an ALA-accredited Institution
• Knowledge of trends, methods, and best practices in library support of student engagement and success
• Understanding of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education and ability to teach library sessions
• A vision for the role of the library in advancing student academic success and retention
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
• Strong commitment to patron service and the ability to develop collaborative relationships with students and faculty
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability and willingness to work both collaboratively and independently
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
• Flexible and adaptable to changing organizational priorities and technological environments.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experience providing instruction or training
• Understanding of assessment tools and techniques
• Experience working in an academic library setting

Appointment at Assistant Librarian rank and salary is $50,000. A strong record of job performance, professional growth, and service is required for reappointment and promotion in rank.
