The Portage Public Library is seeking an Adult Services Librarian. The ideal candidate is outgoing, creative, technology-minded and enthusiastic about being part of an ever-changing environment. Other desirable qualities include strong organizational and management skills, excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills, and a strong desire to explore new ways to provide excellent library services.
This full-time leadership position works with the Youth Services Librarian, the Circulation Services Supervisor and the Library Director as part of the Library’s Leadership Team. The Adult Services Librarian is responsible for planning, managing and evaluating library services, collection development, and in-house and outreach programming for adults. The Head of Adult Services is responsible for identifying community needs and providing direct library services such as reference, reader’s advisory and technology assistance to customers of all ages. Additionally this position is responsible for budgeting, technology management, marketing and social media, and evaluating statistics. The Adult Services Librarian directly supervises two Library Assistants (Technical Services and Public Services) and works closely with the Events and Programming Coordinator.
Eligibility
· Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (or equivalent) and one to three years related experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
Salary and Schedule
· This is a full-time position, eligible for excellent benefits through the City of Portage. The hiring range is $19-$22 per hour, dependent on qualifications. This schedule may require some evening work and one Saturday each month. Click here for a full job description
