Head of Adult Services

Position Summary

Assist in planning, coordinating, and administering adult and multigenerational programs of library. Responsible for overall department operation, including supervision of departmental employees. Customer service management. Adult fiction collection development. Work hours are generally between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will include an evening and weekend hours on a rotational schedule.

Compensation

This is a Grade 8 position starting at $23.48/hour. Full-time benefits include health insurance, life insurance, paid vacation/sick/holiday/bereavement/personal leave, and the City’s contribution to the Wisconsin Retirement System.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; at least two years of experience working in libraries. Strong computer skills and technology problem-solving abilities essential. Excellent communication, people, and PR skills.

Preferred: Master of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent degree; supervisory experience.

Comparable training and experience will be considered.

Location

A two-time recipient of the Library of the Year Award from the Wisconsin Library Association, T. B. Scott Free Library is an architecturally stunning building on the Prairie River in Merrill, Wisconsin. Merrill is traditionally home to the Menominee, Ojibwe, and Ho-Chunk and is the gateway to the Wisconsin Northwoods. The library provides service to the residents of the City of Merrill and the surrounding communities of Lincoln County, with a total service population of 21,000.
