The Outagamie Waupaca Library System (OWLS) seeks a full-time Network Manager to maintain and improve network infrastructure for the OWLS office and 30 public libraries in northeast Wisconsin. Position open due to upcoming retirement of a long-term employee. Join our small, collaborative team with low turnover in providing outstanding technology support to our members. Responsibilities include administration of network servers, WAN, and office and library LANs; maintaining network security; providing customer service to member libraries; supervising two computer support staff; some hardware installation and repairs; limited scripting; and collaborating across departments and on statewide committees.

The individual selected will demonstrate knowledge of Windows OS, Windows Server OS, Linux OS, TCP/IP, cabling, telecommunications basics, networking (LAN and WAN), firewall policy management, and advanced personal computer usage and configuration. Must have the ability to gain a working understanding of current and developing technologies as they relate to public library operations and services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to work comfortably, patiently, and helpfully with library staff whose computer skills range from negligible to advanced.

Associate degree specializing in computer sciences and networking or equivalent certifications and experience and three to five years of professionally responsible experience in computer information systems are required.

Occasional travel within 150 miles of Appleton, WI will be required to provide on-site support. A valid Wisconsin driver’s license and a vehicle are required. Travel expenses are reimbursed.

The position is 40 hours per week with a flexible telecommuting policy after an initial training period. Because of the nature of this position, the employee must perform some duties outside of normal business hours and be on call for after-hours support. Applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate within commuting distance of Appleton, Wisconsin. Starting salary is $75,000, negotiable based on experience.
