The First Amendment: Fighting Censorship through Library Advocacy Workshop

 A Virtual Intellectual Freedom Workshop
Wednesday, May 22 | 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.
Online registration will close May 21, 2024.

Formal and informal challenges to library resources and services are at their highest levels in decades, and the freedom to read continues to be under attack. As library supporters, you have an important role in helping libraries provide access to the information that your communities want and need.

In this interactive workshop, you'll learn about the principles of intellectual freedom, discuss how to respond to real-life dilemmas, review best practices for library policies, and find out what you can do to support the First Amendment in your community. Attendees will be asked to identify a library policy in need of updating and will have the opportunity for real time feedback.

This event is brought to you by the WLA Intellectual Freedom Special Interest Group (SIG).
