Breakout 8: Conversation Cafe's: Tired of Small Talk? Try Some Big Talk
Milwaukee 1
Presenter: Marc Boucher & Ali Van Doren, Lake Superior State University
Conversation Cafes use a process to create an 'Inviting Climate in which everyone is inspired to speak and listen, and where diverse perspectives may emerge.' This workshop will walk participants through the steps on building a successful community engagement event by which your library can live up to the promise of being a safe space for the sharing and discussion of diverse ideas.

Breakout 9: Breakout 10: Inclusive Reads & Conversations with UWGB Libraries: Implementing a DEI Focused Common Read for Faculty and Staff on Your Campus Milwaukee 1
Presenter: Sarah Bakken, UW-Green Bay Libraries
On our campus, we identified a need and desire for a safe space to have conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion for faculty and staff on our campus. As we all have experienced, committing to professional development events can be difficult especially with the extra load of work many of us have experienced adjusting our services and work from the pandemic. In this session, learn how our library DEI committee developed our Inclusive Reads & Conversations with UWGB Libraries monthly program as an opportunity for faculty and staff to participate in regular discussion and education around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
