Coming soon to a library near you . . .

WLA on the Road is a series of regional events taking place in locations around the state this year.  You told us you'd like to get together for informal networking outside of WLA conferences without having to travel a great distance to participate.  We heard you, and we're coming your way soon!

We kicked off the very first WLA on the Road event yesterday in beautiful Eagle River at the Walter E. Olson Memorial Library — and what a wonderful start to this new statewide series!

Library staff from across the region gathered to connect with friends and colleagues, share ideas, learn together, and simply enjoy time in community. From meaningful conversations to moments of laughter (and even ukuleles!), the day reflected what makes Wisconsin’s library community so special.

A huge thank you to Sara Klemann and Emilie Braunel for being such welcoming and generous hosts. We are so grateful for the hospitality and care that went into making this event a success.

We also want to thank our sponsors for helping make WLA on the Road possible:

⭐ Presenting Sponsor: UWM School of Information Studies

⭐ Gold Sponsor: e-ImageData

⭐ Bronze Sponsors: FEH Design and Wegner CPAs

WLA on the Road is all about bringing connection, professional development, and the benefits of WLA membership directly to library communities across Wisconsin — and Eagle River set the bar high. Thank you to everyone who joined us!

Call for Host Locations

The Wisconsin Library Association is hitting the road in 2026 and we’re looking for libraries and campuses to host a WLA On the Road event in your community.

What is WLA On the Road?

A regional gathering that brings library professionals together for conversation, learning, and connection.

Why host?

Hosting is a great way to showcase your library, highlight local innovations, and welcome colleagues from across your region. WLA provides the program framework—you provide the space and community spirit.

What we need from a host site:

  • A gathering space that can comfortably seat 15–30 attendees
  • Basic A/V setup
  • Access to parking
  • A local contact to help with logistics

Contact Kara Sullivan at [email protected]

or (920) 574-4407 if you would like to co-host an event.
